The Earth upon which we find ourselves is much different, much darker, than the Earth that was created by Jehovah, in the beginning of this creation. Our Earth is different because of the fall. Our Earth has been thrown out of the cosmic system of progression because of the rebellion that will be discussed in this post.
Our Earth is known as a Telestial world. The “Tele” comes from the Greek and means, “Far, Far Away”. Joseph Smith's description of our Earth as Telestial, is another way of saying “a dark planet, the furthest away from our Father the Creator. The furthest away from God's light and Glory!

There are scriptures that mention the rebellion of Lucifer and his attempt to steal away power from God. First, a scripture from February of 1832, and then the rebellion scriptures as shared in the record of First Enoch.

In the "The Books of Enoch Complete Edition”, the author, Paul Schnieders, explains: "1 Enoch is referred to in Jude 14-15 and also in 1 Peter 3:19-20".
1 Enoch is one of the Enoch records that have been recovered. The records are considered to be Pseudoepigraphal, because the work claims to be written by a biblical character. The records are also considered to be Apocryphal, because they contain hidden or unknown origins, or the origin is known only in private circles.
Within these Enoch records, a much more detailed account emerges, a record of what really caused our Earth to fall. In addition to the rebellion story, that will be discussed next, our bible confirms the validity of the Enoch records, with this reference to "Giants" in Genesis chapter five verse eight:

These watchers are known to Enoch as angels who were of an exalted heavenly state, and were set to watch over our Earth. Lucifer, made a secret agreement with a group of these watchers. They chose to fall from their exalted positions. Their wickedness desecrated our Earth, taking our once glorious world into darkness and decay, where rust and moth doth corrupt.

This record from Enoch sets the time of the watchers falling from their high state as "during the days of Jared".

This Jared was the son of Mahalalel and the father of Enoch.
This is all going on when our Earth was new and full of glory. The people living on the Terrestrial Earth were living for a thousand years. The life expectancy dramatically changes after the great flood to less than 100 years.
The line of spiritual leaders from Adam.
After Adam, is his son, Seth. From Seth, his son Enos and his son Cainan. Next, his son Mahalalel, and next, his son, Jared.
Jared's son was named Enoch. The same Enoch who left this fallen and dark Earth and took all the righteous followers of God with him.
This record from Enoch also explains how Lucifer rebelled against the Father, causing himself a great fall from glory and also taking our Earth along with him to the darkest corner of space.
Everything upon the Earth was being destroyed by the offspring of the wicked watchers, including mankind. The flood was sent from heaven to destroy all of the wickedness upon the Earth that had resulted from the watchers and their wicked oath.
The Earth was thrown off the path of cosmic progression and became a fallen world, (Telestial). The Earth's former glory, replaced with darkness, death and sin.

Enoch was set as a witness against the wicked watchers, who fell from the high heavens because of their wicked oath with Lucifer. Enoch established his city of righteousness, where the followers of Christ found refuge and shelter from all of the wickedness that was covering the entire planet.
Eventually, Enoch was able to teach his people how to live a higher law. His people created Zion and the entire city of Enoch was taken up to heaven, leaving the Earth covered by wickedness, except for the few surviving with Noah. After the flood wiped out all the wickedness, Enoch's great grandson Noah and Noah's family remained alive, to begin again the family of mankind upon the Earth.
The flood was a world wide devastation, most likely wiping out the records that existed prior to the flood. For this reason, the many records of Enoch that are mentioned in 2 Enoch, chapter 68, probably didn't survive the great flood.

Enoch is one of my favorite spiritual leaders. He describes himself as as a lad, slow to speak, who all the people hate. In 2 Enoch, he is known to the Father as "youth", because Enoch was able to ascend to the High Heavens, establish Zion and call the wicked to repentance, including the wicked watchers, who were fallen angels from the High Heavens, each rejecting their eons of wisdom and experience (Enoch was considered young, compared to them).
